One of the biggest decisions to make about your wedding day shot list is whether or not to have a “First Look.” So, what is it and why would you want to have one on your wedding day? The “First Look” is an opportunity for a couple to have a private and uninterrupted moment with each other before the ceremony. However, some, more traditional couples, choose to not see each other until the ceremony in hopes that the raw emotion will be captured on the walk down the aisle, and there is nothing wrong with that. I actually think you can do both.
If you’re debating on whether or not to have a “first look” on your wedding day here are 3 of my favorite reasons why I think you should.
1.) It’s intimate and allows you to spend some time loving on each other before the hustle and bustle begins.
2.) It calms the nerves and relieves that “before the show” jitters. My couples that decide to do a First Look seem to be more relaxed as they prepare to walk down the aisle simply because they have already had that loving time together.
3.) MORE PICTURES!!!!!! Having a first look guarantees that you will have more portraits of the two of you. I mean, who doesn’t want more gorgeous pictures?
If you aren’t completely convinced that you would like to have a First Look with your almost spouse then there are some alternatives that would be equally as fun and heartfelt.
1.) A First Touch: This is where the couple stands out of sight of each other and shares a sweet hand holding. This is such an emotional interaction and serves the same purpose as the first look.

2.) A daddy/daughter first look: Every proud dad’s dream is to see their little girl on their wedding day and this interaction is sure to tug at your heart.
3) A first look with your wedding party: These are fun if they are seeing you in your dress for the first time. Your wedding party members are usually those specials individuals who love and support you no matter what and their reaction to seeing you in your wedding dress is just as magical.
No matter if you’re a traditional or a more modern bride, everyone can agree that having a private and intimate moment with your almost spouse, calming the jitters, and getting a TON more pictures are all the more reasons to have a First Look.
Love this! Wish I would have done a fist look! Love the alternatives as well!
